Disscusion of Piggy

Ewen: So isn't Piggy such an adult figure in William Golding's 'Lord of the Flies'?

Will: yeah, i reckon without Piggy many things would of gone wrong.

Ewen: yeah he really shows himself as an intellectual person and really helps Ralph and the others in restoring order to the island. Dun't u agree? Especially when Piggy tries to get Jack to help with making huts instead of hunting and to use the signal fire to help get the rest of the community saved.

Ewen: oh, btw, also at the very beginning Piggy was the one who has found the conch (shell), remember? Without this the island society could never had been formed. He's also the one that will oppose the things that aren't fair and just. Piggy has that sense of being much more grown-up then the others.

Will: ye thats right. i remember. how cud i not? oh, and hey, i found this awesome quote: Pg 50 it says "Like kids!" he said scornfully. "acting like a crowd of kids!", and yea. lik u said, this shows that Piggy is much more grown up then the rest of them and shows his maturity.

Will: oh ye, srry i didn't add it b4, but i also found another quote on pg 53 it says : "Mind out! Give'em back! i can hardly see! You'll break the conch!". This shows that piggy notices the importance of the conch in their community and that it has a strong ability to restore order and justice.

Ewen: wow. thats great!! ye. he really belives in order and justice in a society, and is 1 of the few who relise the importance of the conch as well.

Ewen: do u hav any other quotes?

Will: Ye. iv got heaps. how about dis 1?."Piggy could think. He could go step by step inside that fat head of his, only Piggy was no chief. But Piggy, for all his ludicrous body, had brains.". It proves he didnt hav the leadership skills that Jack or Ralph had, buh he had the brains to keep things runnin. He is stil important to Ralph, as he provides some ideas to him.

Ewen: ohhh. ok ic. so he has the brains buh not the leadership skills. well, would you like to be piggy and keep the order in this instance?

Will: kinda, buhh i wouldn't wanna die in that way though, that would terrible.

Ewen: yeah, they were really cruel in the book but i reckon it helped to show them what should be right and wrong. Setting an example is a very important act. Piggy is a very distinguished and unique character throughout the book, yea?

Will: Yeah, i get you now, I would like to be like him and help people.

Ewen: Hopefully you wont die. buhh LOTF is a pretty guud book, yea?

Will: lol, hopefully. ye definately. it was a great read!

Ewen: haha. Ok, nice talking to you
